Participants do not require a background in dance or theatre. Myriam will be your guide as you move through body and voice improvisation exploration, inspired by our human experience. As a group, we will explore our stories and share moments of vulnerability, moments of laughter and a great dose of play.
From week to week, we will experiment together with different formats of playback theatre and experience the type of deep listening that can happen through them.
This workshop is not primarily geared towards performance, but there is a possibility of a short workshop performance the day of the last session if the group wants to invite a couple of friends.
Learn more about Playback Theatre.
Myriam has been part of a professional Playback Theatre troupe for two years and is eager to share this practice with her community. She is also trained in Action Theatre, physical theatre, dance improvisation, mime and clowning, which all inform her improvisation practice and teachings. Her work in Nonviolent Communication drew her to delve into relationship dynamics through theatre and she approaches Playback Theatre as a form of empathy through movement, words and metaphors.
